Hello

I’ve spent a lot of years around cameras that were supposed to be “security” and somehow ended up telling a bigger story: what’s moving on a site, what’s breaking in operations, what never should have left the edge in the first place. Visual data. Business intelligence that happens to arrive as video. The decision making that comes from it and the operating procedures it can unlock or enable.

That’s the lane I live in. Not a résumé dump. Just the work that keeps pulling me back: cameras as sensors for the business, analytics that earn their keep at the edge, and the people who still have to decide what matters when the software lights up. I’ve watched too many roadmaps start with camera count and end with a pile of footage nobody can use. I’m more interested in the decisions the footage is supposed to support.

MikeCast is where I’m putting that on the record, and the other stuff too.

I want a blog that can hold two kinds of writing without apologizing for either. Field notes: the practical, slightly stubborn takes on visual data, physical security, and what actually works when you’re staring at a real site instead of a slide. Personal posts: stories, opinions, and whatever else I want to say when I’m off the job.

You’ll also see Coach and the bot team on this site. I set the direction. They help research, draft, polish, and keep the day-to-day moving. The voice on this post is mine. I believe there’s a balance in the work we do with AI.
